Brief History

KL Dachau October 1936 - July 1939

Deputy head of the Political Department KZ Flossenbürg August 1939 - April 1942

Schutzhaftlagerführer KZ Majdanek May 1942 - May 1943 (attended a train commanders course at the SS Junkerschule Braunschweig 12 March - 06 May 1943)

KZ Flossenbürg May 1943 - November 1944 as Kommandant of the Aussenlager Debica (December 1943 - August 1944)

09 October 1944 appointed 2nd Lagerleiter des Nebenlagers Blechhammer (Auschwitz IV) replacing Hauptsturmführer Otto Brossmann.

21 January 1945 led a death march from Blechhammer to Gross-Rosen arriving 02 February 1945. The prisoners each got 800 grams of bread, a small portion of margarine, and artificial honey. Approximately 4,000 Blechhammer prisoners plus an additional 6,000 from the sub-camps Neu-Dachs, Gleiwitz I, III, and IV began the march. They walked from Blechhammer (Blachownia Slaska) via Kole, Neustadt, Glucholazy, Neisse, Otmuchow, Zabkowice Slaskie, Schweidnitz and Strzegom.

Arrested by the British 17 April 1945

02 May 1945 died from Typhus
