Block 24 at Bergen-Belsen KZ/Gedenkstätte

   

Built sometime after 1942 as part of the Soviet POW Camp in Stalag XI C/311. In Jul 1943 until November 1944 this block was part of the Sternlager (Star Camp) In November 1944, with the increasing number of prisoners evactuated to Bergen-Belsen from concentration camps near the front line the Häftlingslager I (Prison Camp), could no longer accommodate all the male prisoners. The Häftlingslager II was established to accomodate them.
