SS Lager (SS Camp) at Bergen-Belsen KZ/Gedenkstätte

Built circa 1940 when the Baulager was transformed into Stalag XI C/311 and was used by the Wehrmacht administration.

Part of area handed over to the SS 10 May 1943 for the administration of the Internierunglager/Aufenthaltslager, whilst the remaining portion was retained by the Wehrmacht for administration of the POW Hospital.

Wehrmacht controlled area handed over to SS when the POW Hospital was dissolved 20 January 1945.

Soon after liberation and until 1953 the buildings that remained were used to house refugees and was know as the Wohnlager.

Remaining buildings destroyed or sold in 1953.
